Sustainable Development at Effect Algara Beach ResortOur Commitment
At Effect Algara Beach Resort, we believe that good hospitality means not only providing a high-quality holiday experience, but also acting responsibly towards nature, people, and the local community.
For this reason, sustainability is an integral part of the way we manage our hotel. We monitor the use of natural resources, work to reduce waste, protect green areas and biodiversity, support the local economy, and strive to provide a fair and safe working environment.
Our goal is to evaluate our performance each year and identify specific next steps for improvement.
🌿 Environment
💧 Responsible Water Use
Water is one of the key resources in the hotel’s operations, and its consumption is monitored regularly.
At Effect Algara Beach Resort, we use various solutions to reduce unnecessary water consumption, including water-saving aerators and dual-flush toilet systems.
Our guests can also contribute through our towel reuse programme.
For the maintenance of the resort’s extensive green areas, the hotel also uses its own water source. Irrigation is carried out mainly during the evening hours to ensure more efficient use of water.
Water quality is monitored through the relevant laboratory testing.
⚡ Energy and Climate
We monitor electricity consumption as part of our environmental impact management system.
Throughout different areas of the resort, we use LED lighting, as well as automated controls, timers, and sensors wherever applicable.
Air-conditioning systems and other technical equipment are regularly monitored and maintained to ensure efficient operation.
Solar panels have also been installed within the resort, allowing us to use energy from a renewable source.
We continue to improve the measurement of our energy consumption and associated emissions so that we can establish measurable targets for the future.
♻️ Waste and Circular Economy
We aim to prevent unnecessary waste generation and ensure its proper separation and subsequent management.
Designated waste separation points are available throughout the resort, and different waste streams are managed in an organised manner.
Particular attention is paid to waste generated by our kitchens and restaurants.
Used cooking oil and fats are transferred to a specialised waste management operator, and each transfer is documented. The applicable agreement classifies this waste under code 20 01 25 and provides for bilateral handover protocols upon collection.
Separate collection and transfer of biodegradable waste from kitchens and catering establishments – code 20 01 08 – to a specialised external operator has also been organised.
Where applicable, organic garden waste is composted on site.
We also work to reduce the use of single-use products and packaging and to improve the monitoring and traceability of waste quantities.
🌳 Nature and Biodiversity
One of the distinctive features of Effect Algara Beach Resort is its extensive green areas.
Our aim is for these areas to be more than simply part of the resort’s appearance, but rather an environment in which vegetation and local wildlife can be preserved and protected.
Healthy trees are retained, while sanitary pruning is carried out when necessary. In developing and maintaining our green areas, we strive to take the needs of the local natural environment into account.
Within the resort grounds, guests may observe birds, bees, butterflies, hedgehogs, and other representatives of the local fauna.
We also provide birdhouses, and our employees receive instructions on protecting animals, nests, vegetation, and natural habitats.
When maintaining our gardens, we also pay attention to the responsible use of water, plant protection products, and fertilisers.
👥 Our People
For us, sustainability also includes the way we treat people.
Effect Algara Beach Resort is committed to providing a safe, fair, and respectful working environment, based on the principles of equality and non-discrimination.
We work to protect human rights and to prevent discrimination, harassment, exploitation, and other unacceptable practices.
Our employees receive training and instructions on topics such as:
sustainable development • efficient use of water and energy • waste separation and management • safe handling of chemicals • nature and biodiversity protection • human rights and social responsibility.
🛡️ Child Safeguarding
Protect children: If you witness or suspect any form of violence, abuse or exploitation involving a child, please report it immediately to the relevant authorities. In case of immediate danger, call 112. If you are unsure how to proceed, please contact a member of the hotel staff for assistance.
🇧🇬 Local Economy and Responsible Sourcing
Whenever possible and appropriate, we aim to work with Bulgarian and regional suppliers and to include locally sourced products.
In this way, part of the value created by tourism remains within the region, while our guests have the opportunity to experience local products and traditions.
We are also gradually integrating criteria related to product origin, packaging, environmental impact, and social responsibility into our procurement practices.
🤝 Local Community
We want tourism to benefit not only our guests and employees, but also the community around us.
We encourage responsible behaviour among our guests, provide information about the local natural environment, culture, and attractions, and promote respect for the people and surroundings of the region.
In 2026, we are also expanding our participation in initiatives that provide benefits to the wider community.
🌍 Our Guests Are Part of the Change
Small actions by many people can have a significant combined impact.
During their stay, our guests can support our efforts by using water responsibly, switching off lights and air conditioning when they are not needed, reusing towels, and disposing of waste in the designated areas.
We encourage our guests to respect the local environment by avoiding damage to plants, trees, nests, or natural habitats and by not feeding, capturing, or disturbing wild animals.
We also encourage respect for local people, culture, and traditions and, whenever possible, the use of more sustainable forms of transport and support for local producers and businesses.
